Our History
Handtrans is a family based and operated haulage contractor.
The company was established by Melvin Hand in 1996, with a single vehicle and small premises at Elsham, North Lincolnshire. As the Road Haulage industry continued to evolve, so did we. We began to offer groupage, multi-drop and warehousing services. In these early years, Handtrans worked hard and earned a deserved reputation as a company committed to customer service, and getting the job done right every time.
In 2002, we moved to our current premises at Ashmaur House. Not only did this provide an excellent location conveniently close to the Immingham docks, it also made space for our now 40,000 sq. ft. warehouse. Pick-and-pack and storage facilities became very popular and helped to develop Handtrans and our capacities even further.
In 2004, Handtrans joined Palletforce; one of the most dynamic and rapidly expanding Pallet Distribution Networks in Europe. Due to the strength of our membership network, we were able to deliver excellent customer satisfaction and a variety of efficient services to our customers. Over the years, our reputation and our dedication have been key in the growth of our customer base of both private and PLC companies. Now, we service over 100 repeat customers including freight forwarders, international shippers and government agencies!
We have never tired in the pursuit of development. Today, Handtrans continues to analyse the road haulage industry year-by-year, remaining at the forefront of modern transportation. Our vehicles are all fitted with advanced telematics and our planners utilise state-of-the-art software. With years of experience, professional staff and constantly evolving technology; we are always striving to maintain our reputation for customer service and proud of our position as one of North Lincolnshire’s top transport organisations.
